This project draws inspiration from two influential sources: the post-war Case Study program by Arts and Architecture Magazine in America, and the architectural legacy of the seminal Group architects in 1950’s Aotearoa New Zealand. While the original clients have yet to break ground, the design is fully developed and poised to undergo Multiproof certification for nationwide construction.
The design is a response to the existing bach, which has surpassed its functional lifespan and occupies the same footprint. It embraces a bi-nuclear arrangement, separating sleeping and living areas into distinct pods. These pods are then connected under a unified roof, creating an additional liveable space ideal for casual living.
